The Obex Spin Communication Snowboard and Ski Helmet will change the way you ride forever. It has been years since I’ve been so excited about a product after testing it for review. The communication system is revolutionary. In fact, after using it for a couple of days around the mountain, I was surprised by how convenient it actually was to talk while riding down the slopes with my friends and family.
The Obex Spin Communication Snowboard and Ski Helmet is one of the most exciting new developments in mountain communication technology. It allows you to listen to music, talk on your cell phone, and still hear any approaching dangers. This revolutionary helmet was created by Obex, a riding innovation company.
The Obex Spin Communication snowboard and ski helmet is designed with a built-in Bluetooth headset that gives you instant access to the outside world. It comes with the usual pinch-to-talk technology, voice commands, and sound sharing so you can chat with your friends while you’re riding. But the real innovation here is that all this technology fits inside a standard ski or snowboard helmet.
The Obex team has been in deep on product testing. Over the next couple months they will be releasing a series of edits and POC videos on the all new spin communication wire line helmets. These are something they have been playing with for the past two years and are finally ready for prime time. So keep an eye out for these to drop in the next few weeks.
I am on the fence about whether this is a cool thing or not. On the one hand, I’m not sure that this helmet has enough of the right kind of features and sensors to make it really useful, which is a shame because it looks like it has a lot of great sensors for doing cool things. On the other hand, I love the idea of snowboard helmets as wearable computing platforms with a lot of sensors…I think this is a great first product, and I hope that they can figure out how to add more interesting sensing capabilities in future versions.
If you’re anything like me and spend way too much getting out in the backcountry for some turns, you know that having the right gear is key. I’ve tried a lot of helmets and now have my favorites that fit my needs and style.
Compared to helmets designed to reduce concussion and other brain injuries for high speed impact sports like cycling, running and skiing, an OBEX helmet is designed to reduce head injuries like a concussion during slower speed activities – activities where the rate of acceleration and magnitude of impact is less.
All helmets are certified to the ASTM F2040 snow sport helmet standard. Additionally, The Spin meets or exceeds the EN1077B:2015 alpine skiing helmet standard.
