The paddleboard industry continues to boom, thanks largely to a trend towards inflatables. Blow-up boards allow those space-challenged adventurers among us to reach places rarely touched by a paddle, and are no longer too floppy or too bulky to be considered unworthy alternatives. The Red Paddle Sport has a length of 11 feet and 3 inches. It is lightweight at 22 pounds and it can handle everything from alpine lakes to open-ocean excursions.
The Red Paddle 11’3” Sport SUP offers a step up from the Ride family and has been designed for the more experienced paddler to deliver more speed and dynamic performance. Its secret lies in its shape, it’s designed to cut through the water more cleanly, and the drawn-out nose section gives it more glide across the water.
This paddleboard is suited to a slightly larger rider, offering greater stability with it’s 33″ width and comes fitted with a patented RSS system for maximum rigidity. Included battens make it amazingly rigid, more so than any other inflatable we’ve tested. And given that the Sport is slightly less than five inches thick, paddlers can keep a low center of gravity, which means increased stability.
The advantage is you’ll be more confident—one tester calmly cruised the sea-lion-infested waters off California’s central coast in the dark. The Red’s two-barrel pump allows inflation within seven minutes. When the day is complete, the board easily folds up and slips into its roller bag.
